How To Choose Mens Gold Wedding Rings
28 May
More than just pieces of fashion jewelry, men’s wedding rings are a lasting symbol of love and fidelity. Just like you plan every other detail of your wedding day, it goes without saying that you should choose a wedding ring carefully. This article will help you choose a men’s gold wedding ring that you will enjoy and appreciate for a lifetime.
For most men, gold wedding rings are the most traditional choice, but choosing a gold ring doesn’t mean you need to buy a plain yellow-gold band. Many men opt for a white gold band, or one that is brushed, beveled or embellished with diamonds or gemstones. With so many varieties now available, men have more choices than ever in wedding rings.
Gold wedding bands are usually made in 10-karat, 14-karat and 18-karat gold, and they are available in white, yellow or rose gold. Because gold is a soft metal it can easily be engraved, but it can also scratch easily. Fortunately, it can also be polished to a brilliant shine.
Buying a men’s gold wedding band is quite simple. Here are some tips:
• First, choose the color gold you like best – white, yellow or rose gold. Keep in mind that you may want to match your ring with your fiance’s wedding band, which could dictate the color gold that you choose. Also, if you typically wear a stainless steel or silver watch, you may want to choose white gold for the best match.
• Start browsing some online jewelry stores or look through brochures to determine the style of band you want. Choices range from plain no-nonsense wedding bands to intricate engraved designs, two-toned bands, and rings that include diamonds.
• Next, decide on the weight and thickness of the band. Try on a selection of rings with varying widths to see which one is the best fit for you. Generally, men with larger hands look best with bulkier rings, and men with smaller hands are happier with a narrow band.
• Finally, make sure you know your ring size before you order a ring. This can be done quite easily at home using a piece of paper, and most online jewelers have sizing charts that can help you.
Once you have completed these steps, start shopping for men’s gold wedding rings and comparing prices for the rings you like best. For many years to come, whenever you look at your left hand, you will be happy you took the time to choose the perfect wedding ring.

The wedding ring goes on first so it's closer to your heart, then the engagement ring goes on. That's the traditional way, but anything goes these days and if you want to wear them the other way about then it's up to you!

Not a dumb question at all. what we learned is that there are rules, but each person has to make decisions that they are comfortable with regard this all important day.
I didn't want to spend thousands of dollars on an engagement ring that my wife wasn't 110% thrilled about. I have a friend who is a gemologist, so she got to pick her stone out as well as the setting (separately) then she didn't see it until I proposed.
We later picked out our bands together.
Here is a guide to wedding rings that may help as well:

Diamonds are THE biggest Ripoff on Earth! Why is the price so high? “because they are Rare?”… NO!…because they are *Controled*…Google “the Diamond Myth” and learn the Truth!…dont fall for a 1940’s DeBeer’s Marketing Campaign!
Q – Is the engagment ring traditionally more expensive, or cheaper than the wedding ring?
A – The engagement ring is more expensive. Traditionally the man is supposed to spend 3 months salary on one, but that isn't really done as much these days.
Q – Why are there 2 rings (engagement and wedding) wouldnt that be extremely expensive?
A – Most engagement rings & wedding bands can be bought in a set to save money & then the rings will also match. There doesn't always have to be an engagement ring, but it's just grown to be a custom. When people mention being engaged everyone always wants to see the engagement ring. The wedding band speaks for itself.
Q – Does the guy get an engagement ring too, or is the just the girl?
A – Guys can have an engagement ring too. It's not tradition but it is becoming more popular lately. When I got engaged I bought my fiance a nice ring. Was nothing fancy cause it would just get damaged at work.
Q – Does the girl have to buy the guys wedding ring?
Usually the bride does buy the grooms ring. I think traditionally the grooms parents buy the wedding bands but not all traditional customs are followed thru on anymore.
Q – Does the couple shop for the wedding rings together?
Most of the time, yes. A lot of couples like to have matching rings therefore they'd shop together. But it can always be kept a surprise too.
Q – Also, isn't there an engagement/wedding ring that is like 2 pieces, and when the wedding comes you get the 2nd piece?
Yes, thats a bridal set. Engagement rings come in all shapes & sizes these days so the wedding band is made to fit perfectly with it. My engagement ring is princess cut & the matching wedding band has a square groove in it to fit perfectly. My sisters wedding band is curved to fit in with her wavy styled engagement ring.
=)
You give your best man the wedding bands you already bought.
You go to the jewelry store and you buy whatever rings you like and can afford.
An engagement ring (usually a diamond in the US) is given to a woman as a promise to marry. It is like collateral for the marriage. If you break up you have to return the ring. Same as if you propose to your boyfriend and give him an engagement ring (this practice is becoming more popular).
Sometimes an engagement ring if it is a band of gold with writing on it (sometimes called a posy ring) can be used as both a wedding ring and an engagement ring, especially if the person doesn't like to wear two rings. You can find posy rings on the internet.
A wedding ring symbolizes the actual marriage itself. That is usually a band of gold, sometimes with diamonds, sometimes not. It solidifies the union itself.
Rings do not have to match. It is up to the individual couple on what they prefer.
After the marriage if you divorce, both rings are yours forever because you went through with the marriage.
a 1 carat diamond can go for as much as $20,000 + so smaller diamonds will costs less than that depending on the quality.
However if you really want an affordable beautiful diamond of any size I suggest diamonds of Color H- SI2 Clarity Ideal or Very Good Cut.
I found them on ebay.
i have a question. I gave my girl a brital set on our engagement night, but i just gave her both rings so it would look nicer. now she bought me my ring the other day. SO my question is DO WE STILL NEED TO BUY WEDDING BANDS for the actual wedding for our best man to give us? or do we both give our best man the rings we both already have??????
My birthstone is a diamond.
Wedding band first, "closest to your heart," with the engagement ring on top. Or some ladies opt to wear their engagement ring on the ring finger of their right hand and keep only the wedding band on the left hand. I am planning to get my wedding band and engagement ring soldered together so it still looks like two rings, but is actually one big ring that won't swivel around and drive me nuts all day.
I think you're afraid of your marriage falling apart. Don't worry–we all are.
do what your heart tells you, but if you want to save some money don’t buy anothers.
I'm assuming they aren't soldered together. They are still 2 seperate pieces.
There are a couple options for the engagement ring during the ceremony.
Now, for the most part, the wedding band goes on the bottom of the finger with the engagement ring ontop (some old tradition of it being closest to your heart) So for the engagement ring:
1. She can hand it to her MOH to hold during the ceremony and put it back on right after.
2. She can put it on her right hand and put it back on the proper finger afterwards (this is what I'm doing)
3. She can leave it on and just switch them around afterwards.
4. She can put it on the ring pillow and have you put both on her hand. Personally I'm not a fan of this way because you give her the engagement ring when you propose and the wedding band when you marry. One should not be given at the opposite time. Does that wording make sense? lol
A promise ring is usually something given by a teenage boy to his girlfriend to "promise" to her he wants to be with her forever. It's sweet, but doesn't really mean much. It's like being engaged to be engaged. They usually cost $100-300 from what I've seen. They either have a small diamond or no diamond at all – or the girl's birthstone.
You can buy engagement rings & wedding bands in packages, or you can buy them separately. It's nice to buy them in a package if you want your bride to wear them on the same finger once you guys are married – so that you know they'll fit together. Some women move their engagement ring over to their right hand and in that case they don't need to match or fit together.
